When your 1st Gen iPad gets exposed to water damage and other liquid damage (washing machine, ocean, lake, pond, soda, beer, humidity, moisture, etc.) and something or everything stops working, this is the proper repair evaluation service for you.
Once received, we will carefully place your device in a sealed bag filled with moisture-absorbing material for several days. Next, we will carefully disassemble your device so that all the internal parts are exposed, and then treat the appropriate parts with a high-quality corrosion-inhibitor. Then, we carefully re-assembly the device to see if functionality can be restored. Afterwards, we will contact you with the results, and discuss any parts that have to be replaced, or discuss data backup alternatives. Once we have your approval, we will repair the device, test everything out, and then send it back to you in good working order.
We apply the cost of this Repair Evaluation Service towards any parts and/or labor that we find you will need, so the evaluation is essentially free if you opt to have the device repaired.
Here are some very important tips before placing your order:
- Do not turn your device on. Do not plug it in. Electrical current and liquid do not mix.
- Gently shake the device to remove as much liquid as possible.
- Use a hair dryer on a cool setting to try and evaporate some of the liquid from inside the device.
- Place the device in a sealed bag of uncooked white rice - you can even ship it to us in rice.
- Place an order for this Repair Evaluation Service now!
Note: If the evaluation of your device reveals the need for a part that we can no longer obtain, we will have to send your device back un-repaired. More detail on this can be found in our Terms of Service.
Note: If you are interested in the possibility of a data backup, be sure to indicate that in the Order Comments field during checkout and we will let you know if that is possible after your device arrives.
We are still building out our statistics, but we have found that devices that suffer some form of liquid damage have about a 50-50 chance of long-term success. Devices may work for a day, a week, a month, a year, a decade, and then something else related to the initial liquid trauma may cause another part to fail, so please keep this in mind.
If you have nothing to lose and want to take the best shot possible at getting your liquid-exposed device working again, this is the service for you! And heck, sometimes the sheer act of our treating the device fixes everything, and you would not be asked to pay anything else.
