iPod touch Repair Customer Comments 1

The following are typical comments that we have received from customers who have required repairs on their 5th Generation Apple iPod Video. They may not make a whole lot of sense in this current context, but are listed here to give you an idea of the kinds of repairs that we offer for this model.

The iPod Touch will simply not turn on. Even after being charged, the screen will no turn on. The device appears to be dead, but it could be related to a bad battery. First one earphone would work now neither one has sound regardless of headphones used. Thinking it is the earphone jack. I dropped my Ipod Touch in a glass of Airborne, it was in there for less than 5 seconds. But it will not turn back on and I did all the recommended things. I tried to turn it on though, then I got all the water out that I could. Next I put it a warm place. The itouch will not charge at all. You plug it in to a charger and nothing happens. An apple store technician said that there might be some slight water damage but he was unsure. He thinks it could be that the battery is dead. When I try to turn it on it the battery bar blinks red. * No Passcode * Unit was washed in washing machine & dryer inside pair of jeans * Blew out inside of unit with compressed clean (instrument grade) air. Saw moisture on screen. Tried to power up unit with charger, but unit did not power up. * Dried out unit in rice for 3 days. Unit powered up after being charged, thought everything was functional, but next day unit did not power up any longer. * Hopefully unit is repairable, good luck!

My iPod Touch fell into a toilet containing (relatively) clean water and was submerged for 2-3 seconds before I retrieved it. The iPod was on at the time I dropped it, but would not come back on after getting wet. Four days later it still will not turn on, is not recognized by iTunes and will not charge. I'm hoping you can let me know if it can be repaired. My ipod got left out in the rain so like a ding dong I tried to pull the face off to air it out. The glass broke and I may have broke the screen underneath. The thing still ran after it got wet but it has sat in a closet in the exteme cold for a while and i am not sure what damage this did to it

Ipod Touch was dropped. The screen is cracked and it would turn on. I do not know what generation Ipod it is. The ipod touch was dropped/lost in the snow and found 8 days later frozen in the ice. the ipod was left alone (i.e. dry) for 2 days before attempting to turn on. we connected it to the computer and power adaptor and had the same response. I got my iPod touch wet, with water. Right away I noticed it did not work. I did try to plug it in to my computer, it did not respond they way it should have. I then went on line, to find out what to do. I put it in a bowl of rice for over a week. You have my home phone number. 1st generation 8GB iPod Touch does not power up... Worked fine. Then one day, wont turn on and wont charge. Has full charge but will powerdown and have nothing. Then may give some problems charging then will show full charge without really charging. Maybe loose connection or battery with memory. ****If it turns out it is JUST a battery issue, I authorize you to make that repair****** My 2nd Generation I Piod Touch wont power on. Apple evaluted it and said there was water damage. I never allowed water to come near the i touch. I dont know which part needs replaced. The iPod Touch gives a message to "slide to turn off" or "Cancel" as if the battery is low even when the battery is fully charged. The sound also automatically turns down to zero sometimes. I sent it to Apple within the one year warranty period and all they said is it was water damaged and they would not fix it. It all started when I left it for a month or so without charging it and the battery was completely dead. The recharge did not seem to work properly. I think the battery is no good, but it does play fine on a Bose player it though it says the player does not charge it. I am also interested in a battery charger you would recommend to go along with a battery replacement. Broken screen I removed to see if I could repair. Not going to try. the home button does not work also battery wires need to be resodered

Sometimes I have to push the home button 2 or 3 times before it responds. Sometimes the applications are slow to respond. Stopped booting, computer does not recognize it. Took it to Apple Store for evaluation and they said it had water damage but they were able to get a signal from it. Not covered by warranty due to abuse, I never knew it to be exposed to water, so it would cost $135 for repair. Due to anger I would not allow them to touch it.

The ipod touch was placed upside-down (ie power button down) into a cup holder containing 1/8" of juice overnight. It will not power on now. Only the top edge of the device (power button edge) ever touched liquid. Battery doesn't hold a charge. Unit does not start, even when powered. Bottom of unit gets warm when plugged in.

IPOD had a cracked digitizer, replaced with a new one from another vendor. reassembled the unit and it would not start. moisture got into the charging port and now it can't be charged. Worked until the battery ran out. Ipod touch dropped into glass of liquid while booting up. Now battery will not hold a charge & the backlight does not work. The Ipod does occasionally synch with itunes. Just lately my iPod touch's earphone jack has been malfunctioning. What happens is when I plug in my earphones it usually only plays through one earphone. To remedy this I have to constantly rotate the plug in the iPod jack. This has also effected the internal speaker. If I try to play something through them the iPod will switch between internal audio and headphones without any headphones plugged in. Ipod is a 2nd generation. Dropped on floor. I ordered screen and tried to repair myself. The inner edge is broken. Ipod will not turn on or charge. It was dropped in water and this caused issue. Small dent on bottom but it has not been a problem and shouldn't need repaired. Ipod touch does not respond. When connected to a PC, in itunes it says the ipod is in recovery mode and needs to be restored, but cannot restore it. It does not seem to power on unless connected to a PC, then I get the Usb/connection screen and cannot get anything else different.

It will not turn on and computer will not recognize that it is connected. It was working fine with no problems and all of a sudden it went black while removing it from computer. Tried holding all the buttons and nothing. Thought maybe the battery was dead so I charged it overnight, nothing. Tried holding the buttons again and connecting back to computer again. Nothing!! I decided to just leave it on charger for a few days, that worked, when I held the buttons down it came on but showed the battery was still red. Let it completely charge until it was green. After a few days, it started all over again and now I can't get it to do anything. It has never been restored or DFU'd or anything like that. If you need any further information, please let me know. Thanks,

My Ipod touch 2nd generation was dropped into water and didn't turn on since then... My son's friend was playing hot potato with my son's iPod. I heard the carrying on and when I walked in he dropped the itouch and accidently kicked and stepped on it. The volume button no longer works. He also is having difficulty plugging the headphones in. My kid is devastated and his friend is feeling horrible too. Please let me know if it can be repaired so I can fix their friendship. There is no passcode. Thank you. Will not charge. Will not power up. Suspect battery needs replacement. Will not charge or turn on. Will not power on. When i put my music into my itouch it blocks the access to my wifi and makes my itouch freeze. Also my itouch is very slow and when i use the interenet it takes a long time to load. Recenly when i plug my itouch into the computer the battery image cimes on screne but it wont charge and the ipod wont connect into itunes. When i try and turn on my itouch all that appears is the apple and then the battery. it goes no further than that. I contacted chris and he says all this may be due to a poor battery. I have a 2nd generation IPOD TOUCH . It got wet 1 week ago, and can't be turned on anymore, so I'm sending to u for a repair evaluation. It was not bought in the U.S. White Screen appeared and won't go away. The IPOD makes noise, and the white screen changes in intensity, as if the device is working. Tried restoring, and it looked as if it succeeded, but again the white screen is still there. The IPOD TOUCH does not boot up at all. I believe it may have gotten wet. THE IPOD CLASSIC CAN ONLY DOWNLOAD PHOTOS BUT NOT MUSIC. THE IPOD TOUCH IS NOT BEING RECOGNIZED BY THE COMPUTER. I TRIED IT ON MY FRIENDS COMPUTER AND HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. Hi i have an ipod tuch 2g i think it needs a knew battery but i would like a second opinion. problem is that it dose not turn on but when you plug in to cp it turns on currently it is in dfu mode. i am not dumb i know you cant tun on while in dfu mode i try to restore it but it dint work i try to restore it on older firm ware dint work but as i was doing it i noticed that every time i did it same spot it is were the ipod needs battery. the ipod suffered from no accidents. i am really familiar with the ipod coding but every time shuts off. one more thing before i put it in to dfu mode it would and plugged in to cp it would keep restarting. you can reator it if you are able to. Anny questions please call. IPOD does works and plays songs. NEED WI-FI operation to be fixed. Unit experienced moisture damage and WI-Fi stopped working. Please test all operations. the wireless option is not working

This ipod was dropped and the screen shattered and the back has come loose from the device - the device will play - but does have some glitches - broken screen and dropped in the toilet. Device has water damage. Did turn on after the water damage occured however the touch screen did not work. 1. screen would flicker with volume adjustment 2. camera clicking noise with volume adjustment 3. would power off without warning - would not turn back on unless connected with power cord 4. finally - completely dead - would not turn on

devide fell in sink and water got in. For a few days it would not do anything, but once only it came on with no picture or anything on the screen. Sice then when power is pressed, nothing happens. The itouch wont charge on my car cradle nor can i use it in the car. It wont synchronize either. Everytime i try to synchronize, it connects and disconnects continuously. not sure if its the battery or the connection where it synchronizes. thanks. Itouch gets too hot to touch when plugged into the charger. Will not turn on. Home button is stuck in. iPOD TOUCH WAS DROPPED. IT HAD A PROTECTIVE HARD CASE, BUT DIDN'T RECOGNIZE THE SOFTWARE (NO ICONS - JUST PLUG & SOCKET PICTURE). THE CASE NEAR THE VOLUME TOGGLE WAS DAMAGED. IT POWERS UP AND THE DISPLAY WORKS, BUT IT LOOKS LIKE TO REQUIRES A SOFTWARE LOAD. WHEN IT IS PLUGGED INTO THE COMPUTER ITUNES SAYS IT NEEDS A SOFTWARE UPDATE, BUT THE UPDATE FAILS. When plug into the usb cable, nothing happens. But if i apply a little tork to where it plugs in it starts to charge. However the batterly meter never fills up. Fell on ice and damaged LCD screen. I 'think' that needs to be replaced. The metal back is slightly bent and I'm hoping it can be straightened enough to NOT have to replace that as well. Otherwise i have not had any problems with it. Just too much stuff on it that got 'synched' with stuff from the previous owner of my new-to-me used MacBook. Thanks so much, won't connect to itunes on the main screeen it shows the conntection arrow but it can't connect. the ipod touch was left out side over night in the grass had some moisture on it but never submerged. apple said it had a pink strip on it? not sure what that means.

Just need a new battery. For a very long time it would only hold a charge for an hour or so, then it stopped turning on. 2nd gen Ipod Touch has a white screen. Reacts to touch still just gets whiter as if the backlight is triggered, which would be normal operation. Apple said the problem has to do with the 'user inflicted' damage to the backplate, even though that damaged was caused a month before l noticed any problems.

I am not able to charge my ipod. The apple displays and the charging screen comes up, but it never charges. I have tried the reset to no avail. The iPod went thru the wash and will not power at all. Tried various way to dry it and had it connected to power for charging, but nothing will get it to power on. I was trying to erase all of the songs that i have in it and i found an option which said that will erase everything in the ipod so i did and when i tried to turn it on it just gets until the apple logo appears in the screen and it just does not do anything else. I think is a software problem. Device has white screen. holding wake and home button does not do anything other then turn it off and on. No Apple logo, just white screen. Tried doing restore after putting it in restore mode and still only shows white screen. It never shows anything else. This device spent the night in a half cup of water and has a broken screen. It will take a charge but will not power up and blinks all the time until the battery gets drained. I dropped my iPod Touch (1st generation) in the swimming pool last year. It turned on but wouldn't respond so I left it in my drawer. Now it won't even turn on. Please evaluate. I don't think the device has a passcode but if its does, please reset the device. IPOD Touch was dropped in water. Touch screen will not respond. Can play most songs using IHome device. Sleep button works but will turn volume all the way up. Volume buttons on the side will work as long as the sleep button wasn't pressed. My iPod went through a complete wash cycle and part of a dryer cycle before we realized it was in there. It has not powered on since. This occurred 5 days a go. The ipod was not compatible with a bathtime experience as my wife found out. The ipod worked fine until the battery was drained after this. It will not charge. I placed it in a bag of rice to absorb the moisture so hopefully it's only the battery. IPOD Touch will not sync with computer. Then fails to power-on. Sent device to Apple for warranty work. Returned by Apple, stating water-damage according to indicator near earphone jack. Device was never immersed or exposed to water. Less it's just too humid here in Las Vegas. The mouse/scroll button is really hard to press in. It is indented on devise. It still works but very difficult. Also, it will not reconize the double clicking in the music program. It will return to the main menu. Tech on phone said it might be the Bumper. My son is in school right now and can't ask about the passcode. I will put the code in the box with Ipod if there is one. I will also put in the letter if something else is wrong.

THE BOTTOM OF MY SCREEN IS CRACKED. It just quit charging, not able to power back up at all. Tried USB sync cable as well as wall charger. Nothing. Dead. First Ipod charge connector is faulty and does not charge. It is inconsistent. Second Ipod center button does not work. My son tried to replace te glass but he touched the lcd screen and is not working at all. Please check if the lcd can be fixed or let me know if this ipod is fixable. Thanks. iPod fell in the water and won't power on. Water accidently spilled on screen (large glass full, 16 oz). After drying out, device functional except battery gets hot(lower left corner of device) when LCD is lit up and it discharges in 30 - 45 minutes. LCD screen is mottled with the water damage. Battery operates normally if LCD screen not lit, and just music being played. No passcode needed. Dropped in water, let dry a couple of days, then tried, would play music and make noise, but screen was white, this happened in early December, been setting around ever since. In Sep09, I fell into a large mud puddle and my iPod Touch (2nd gen.) was completely submersed rendering my AppleCare agreement useless. After drying the iPod out, it started up and appeared to be working but will not hold a charge (battery replacement?). I reset the iPod erasing all of the data and restoring it to its factory defaults but it still wont hold a charge. I have to have it plugged into the wall for a while before the apps start working. Sometimes it wont boot up and I just have to try again later. All of the apps appear to be working except for the wi-fi finder and I was unable to get it to sync with my home computer. There is no password set up. Device will not power on. Totally unresponsive. Apple Store Tech said the problem was likely a bad or compromised solder on back of unit near dent in back casing.

The top of my itouch was submerged in just a few millimeters of liquid in my cupholder for prolly close to an hour. After I let it dry out and tried to use it again, it was really fritzy and wouldn't turn on for awhile. Now it seems to work fine but the battery barely holds a charge. Power button works intermittently. Headphone jack is broken and needs to be replaced. Ipod touch 2nd gen got wet, lcd backlight has failed. thank you , please make sure to send us the right battery that is for First Generation iPod touch 1000 mph 3.7 vol and the other one is 3rd generation battery that is for apple touch, any question plz call me. Itouch -- Cracked screen. Otherwise functions normally. iPod touch 2nd Gen just needs new digitizer screen. HPJ and external speaker has static. Buying the iPod touch screen and the kit for a 5th Gen iPod Video. The iPod Touch needs the charger port replaced. There are no other issues with this iPod. There is NO CODE needed to access.
