Guidance for Safe Shipping

You've already submitted your order online; you have your order number and are ready to ship it to us. Now what? Follow these nifty guidelines!

Back that thing up!

Take the time to SYNC your device before you ship it off to us. We do not automatically reset every single device back to its original factory settings, but in some instances, it is necessary to get a device running normally again. It's tempting to skip this step, but in the long run, it's better to be safe than sorry.

Be Nice - Charge Your Device!

If possible, charge up your device fully before shipping it off to us.

Send ONLY the Bare Minimum!

In addition to earphones, cables and protective cases, do NOT send the original box the iPod, iPhone or iPad came in, either. Keep these boxes at home, please. They will be recycled, so we kindly ask that our customers not send them. We are not responsible for lost, damaged or recycled retail boxes. Screen protectors need not be removed, though they will be if we're replacing the screen.

Helpful Hints for YOUR Device

"I'm shipping you my poor, broken iPod."

  • Hold the Play/Pause button until your iPod goes to sleep. Afterwards, slide the hold switch into the 'on' position so that you can see the orange! This keeps it from turning on while it's in transit.
  • If you have a four-digit passcode enabled, please disable it or provide us with your passcode. If you do not, we will only be able to perform minimal testing. Thank you for understanding!

"I'm sending you my lifeline - my iPhone."

  • Hold the power button, slide to power off iPhone completely.
  • Remove your SIM card! We will only need your SIM card if you have the 1st Generation iPhone (2G) and it is disabled. If you have an iPhone 4, keep in mind that this card is TINY, so if you remove it, be sure that you store it in a safe place. If you're sending us an iPhone 4 or 1st Gen iPhone with network-related issues, please include SIM card.
  • If you have a four-digit passcode enabled, please disable it or provide us with your passcode. If you do not, we will only be able to perform minimal testing. Thank you for understanding!

"I'm shipping my busted iPad for you to fix."

  • It is your choice if you'd like to remove or keep the SIM card in your iPad. Keep in mind that this card is TINY, so if you remove it, be sure that you store it in a safe place. If you're sending us an iPad with network-related issues, please include SIM card.
  • If you have a four-digit passcode enabled, please disable it or provide us with your passcode. If you do not, we will only be able to perform minimal testing. Thank you for understanding!

How to Safely Package Up Your Device

Make it an easy trip to Texas for your iPod, iPad or iPhone by following these five steps:

STEP ONE: Seal it in a bag!

Electronics and water do not mix, so keep any potential moisture out while it's in transit by putting your device inside of an anti-static or sandwich bag. Seal that bag shut!
NOTE: Follow this step if your device is disassembled or has any "loose" parts on the side. Please label anything like this as “parts” so that they're not accidentally disposed of.

STEP TWO: Create some cushion!

Padded envelopes, bubble wrap, foam inserts (no packing peanuts, if possible), newspaper or even an old t-shirt or two make for excellent padding. We don't mind what you use, just as long as your device is securely wrapped.

STEP THREE: Ready, Set - BOX!

Choose a box that's close comparable in size to the device after it has been wrapped up for shipment. If it's too big, you're going to pay more for shipping for a heavy box. If it's too small or snug, it might put too much pressure on the device. If it's too flimsy, it's going to get crushed! Lastly, TAPE that box shut!
WARNING: NEVER use a regular letter envelope to send your device. We've seen it before and it is not pretty.

STEP FOUR: Include Order Confirmation Number!

You can write it on the outside of the box; include a printout of your order confirmation email; or just write it on a sheet of paper and include it inside of the box. Whatever you choose, just make sure it's with the package somewhere where we can easily find it.
NOTE: If someone is shipping the device for you, make sure they include that very important number.

STEP FIVE: Make your Shipping Label!

If you are making your own shipping arrangements to get your device to us, whether you use FedEx, UPS, DHL or the US Postal Service, check out this handy example:

Shipping FAQs

What are you going to do after my iPod delivers to your repair facility in San Antonio, TX?
After your package arrives, you most definitely will receive an email from us letting you know that it was checked into our system. This email will include testing results of the device straight out of the box as well as the “next steps” of the process for your unique order. Millihub, our custom-designed order management software, will see to it that you are informed through every step of the repair or evaluation process.
Are you sending me a UPS shipping label?
This is an extra service we offer, so if you selected and paid for that option, then yes, we are sending you a label. Please do not confuse the return shipping method (from us back to you) as this extra shipping label service.
If you selected and paid for the option to have a return shipping label sent to you, please be aware that (1) it may take up to 24 hours for this return shipping label to be emailed to you after your order is placed, and (2) you must open and print out your return shipping label within thirty days after you receive it, or the label will no longer be active, and (3) prepaid inbound shipping labels cannot be emailed if your order was placed late Friday, or on Saturday, Sunday, or a Holiday, but will be sent out the morning of the next business day.
Do I need any special paper for my UPS shipping label?
No, you may use regular printer paper for your shipping label. You can affix it to the packaging of your choice with clear tape.
My UPS shipping label doesn't work!
If the link to your UPS label doesn't work, look for %3d near the end of the URL and replace it with an equal sign =.
When can I expect the repair kit I bought for my other iPod I have to arrive?
If you are sending us a device, and also ordered a kit or other accessories, these additional items will ship back along with the device when we ship it back to you! If you wish to make other arrangements for an additional shipping fee, please call us at 210-568-7473 so that we may assist you.
What if I skip a step on the instructions?
Remember that this is our 'Guidance for Safe Shipping', so none of these are hard and fast rules. However, from our years of experience, we find that these steps usually work the best. We practice what we preach, so we'll do the same when shipping your device back to you!
I really want to send the iPod in its original box. Are you going to ship it back?
The receptacles we use to safely move your device through our shop don't leave a lot of room for extra bulky items like these boxes. We will recycle them, so please do not send the original box!
