My Battery in my 5th gen iPod appears to have a second connection to it underneath. This is not seen in the video. Does this change thigs much on removal. The new battery has only one wire. What happens to this other wire. Many Thanks \John
Having done some more research it turns out that the wire underneath the battery belongs to the Hold Button switch. Not the best place to put it as it sticks to the battery on removal and breaks.
As you have discovered, the thin cable that lays underneath the iPod Video battery (and the iPod classic, btw) controls the off/hold switch. It also connects the headphone jack assembly to the logic board, so take great care when pulling off the old stock battery - if the adhesive on the battery is too gooey/sloppy, it could compromise this cable and it could tear. I personally like to put down a nice clean strip of anti-static tape on top of this cable after the old battery is pulled out before placing down the new battery, just in case I need to remove the new battery for whatever reason.
