In our rush to provide the latest and greatest parts and services to our customers, we sometimes get ahead of ourselves. This happened recently with the gold iPhone 3G/S backplates we promoted. Turns out, the cases developed a tendancy to crack and chip around the headphone jack, on/off switch, vibrate switch, and or near the charging port. This is something we never would have expected from our vendor that we have worked with for years, or we never would have offered these gold backplates in the first place. And when something does meet Milliamp LTD’s high standards, be it an employee, product, service, or otherwise, we kindly show it/them the door. Until we can source a more reliable gold backplate for our customers (and put it through more rigorous, real-world testing), gold iPhone 3G/S backplates are off the site.

We do NOT have any issues with the FIRST generation gold iPhone backplates we sell, btw.

Any customers that purchased this product and experienced these kinds of issues are eligible for a credit or, if they are up for it, can send their iPhone back to us and we will put on a more tried-and-true black or white backplate (and get a credit for the difference in price).

Of course, this is something no business owner ever wants to be faced with, but our allegiance ALWAYS leans towards our customers, and this happens to be one of those times.

Image Via www.apple.com

I’m sure by now the media has covered everything there is to know about Apples new iPad, but I wanted to make a list of key specifications that makes up this device.

CPU: This consists of Apples custom 1GHz processor made by Samsung.

Storage: The iPad will come in a 16, 32, and 64 gigabyte models.

Display: The iPad will have a 9.7 inch display screen with a resolution of 1024 by 786. It also has the finger print resistant (oleophobic) coating that is seen on the iPhone 3GS.

Wireless: It comes with the normal 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi (seen in most laptops and net books today). There is an option to get it in a 3g version which you can use with ATT (in the United States). Its going to be a micro sim card technology, which T-mobile is not going get. Also, it comes with Bluetooth 2.1

Ports: It has a regular headphone jack connector, and a 30 pin dock connector.

Other: It has a built in microphone and speaker for listening to music out loud and recording voice notes and other applications (Skype anyone?). The iPad claims to have 10 hour battery life, which is awesome, but we’ll see when it comes out.

Hardware: The iPad (to me) looks like a giant iPhone with the integration of a aluminum Macbook Pro.

OS: Its a version of iPhone OS that allows it to have other programs such as the iWork suite, and the online book store called iBooks.

What I’d like it to have: I’d like the iPad to have multitasking support. I want to be able to listen to Pandora radio while working an an email document, or browsing the web. When it comes to the web, I really want the iPad to support Flash. Apple calls this device the perfect browsing experience, but a big part of the web is Flash. I don’t know whats keeping this device from supporting flash, but its a real let down that this device doesn’t have flash. I was really hoping for some sort of Mac OS on this device, but then it would probably cost way more then the starting $500. The iPad should also have an option for more storage. If this is going to be a great device to watch movies on, you should have at least 128gb of storage to store them (and your music) on.

What did you want on the iPad? Did it exceed your expectations? Or are you wanting more? Either way, I believe this is going to be a very successful Apple device that will sell like crazy.

As a technician/quality control guy here at Milliamp, I am greatly looking forward to seeing this device and working on it. But lets hope people don’t start breaking these things right when they come out.

-Martin Salas

The new 6th Generation IPOD NANO’s low-power consumption and feather-light-weight design makes this Apple’s most creative IPOD ever.

We are pleased to get our hands on two prototype 6th Generations NANOS, shown here in this exclusive photo:

Sixth Gen IPOD NANO Repairs Available

Interestingly, the battery inside Apple’s Six Generation IPOD NANO does not have a wired connector that attaches to the motherboard, nor is it soldered in like all the nanos before it – actually, it has absolutely no battery to speak of! Yep, this device is solar-powered.

We found that the display on the new IPOD NANO lacked a great deal of visual acuity, more so than the previous NANO models, including the monochrome first generation nano screen. But if this is the trade-off for a greener, more eco-friendly IPOD, then we can accept that.

The small form factor of the new device is simply amazing – it has the exact same weight as U.S. nickel – and it is so thin that you can literally see through it in some areas. We believe that these small holes actually help keep the unit’s core temperature cool, but we have yet to officially confirm this in our tests (more details on this to follow in another blog post).

While the device lacks the touch-screen functionality that is seen in the ubiquitous IPHONE and IPOD TOUCH, the new IPOD NANO has more than 20 headphone jack ports all over the face of the device where you can plug in your earbuds, making this the most unexpected added convenience we have seen in an IPOD NANO to date.

Of course, we can repair the sixth Generation IPOD nano, and you will start seeing parts and services for this model any moment now, so bookmark that page and check it regularly until we get it updated.

P.S. This was a joke. Just a bit silly after all the Cyber-craziness over the past few days.

We have honed our techniques on the 1st and 2nd Generation iPod touch, and now we have mastered fixing the 3rd Generation iPod touch. It is actually quite similar to the 2nd Generation version – in fact, it’s hard to look at the second and third generation touch side by side with the device turned off to detect the difference!

Some of the repairs we now offer for the Third Gen iTouch include headphone jack replacement, battery installations, outer glass/digitizer installations, changing out the LCD (the part that lays underneath the outer glass), and even dust removal services.

We have yet to see the elusive 64GB 3rd Gen iPod touch slip into our facility, but that’s just a matter of time!

Any bets on the likelihood of a 4th Generation iPod touch hitting shelves in the near future?

Regards,
