Superbowl Food!!!

Friday, February 5th, 2010

The Saints and the Colts are getting ready to battle it out on the field and all I can think about is seven layer dip, oh wait hamburgers, no maybe even steak.  Dont get me wrong I am a football fanatic, but this game means good home cooked food.  I am a college student and do not get meals like this very often so this is gold for me.  Almost as gold as those new backplates we recieved!(yeah you like that)  Anyways I have already made a list of what peoplel shoud have for the game.  First off, you have to have your beer, whats football without it.  Next move in to the dips and chips.  Salsa and queso is a must in Texas, as well as the seven layer dip.  You can throw in a french onion if you want but you shouldnt need it.  Moving on, get the grill fired up for some burgers, brats, and hotdogs.  Make sure you have all the condiments you need you dont want to run to the store in the 4th quarter for some relish.  Last off, the desserts!  One word, well two words… OREO BALLS, my friend Ashley made these a few years ago for the superbowl and they were amazing.  So good that I ate until I really was sick.  But now that I know that girl scout cookies are back in business I am going to have to add them to the list because face it there girl scout cookies.  I dont know how someone could perfect a cookie as well as the girl scouts of america.  Well I hope everyone eats well this superbowl sunday, and maybe gets to watch a little football.  Goooooooooo Saints!

Time For Some of the Best Commercials of the Year

Friday, February 5th, 2010

Here it is again the biggest game of the year. The super bowl is the biggest football game of the year. Everybody will gather around the tv sunday afternoon with friends, family and a great assortment of food. The super bowl is one of the most watched tv programs every year. No matter the outcome of the game (colts are going to win by tha way) everybody will gather around the water cooler monday mornig at their respective jobs and talk about their favorite commercials. This year for a 30 second ad the cost to run a commercial will be around $3 million or $100,000 per second. For the price of that 30 seond ad companies usually use humor, celeberties and other variables to sell their product to the public. Seeing as apple just unveiled their newest toy the ipad I would expect a new snazzy commercial unveiling its capabilities to the world.

Saints and Colts Advance to Super Bowl XLIV

Monday, January 25th, 2010

We had a couple of great games Sunday. The Vikings and Saints battled it out for the NFC title in an overtime thriller. Both teams traded touchdowns for the majority of the game. The 4th quarter is where all the drama started. With under 2 minutes left the Vikings had a chance to seal the game with a short gain and a field goal. Brett Favre rolled out of the pocket and threw a pick with 7 seconds left in regulation, sending the game into overtime. The Saints won the toss and marched down the field setting up the game winning field goal by Garrett Hartley. I was surprised the Vikings were so close to winning considering they had 5 turnovers. Now we have to wait and see if Favre will come back or not.

For the AFC title we had rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez against the NFL MVP Peyton Manning. The Jets were the Cinderella team of this post season by beating the Cincinnati Bengals and the San Diego Chargers. Could the Mark Sanchez make history and be the first rookie QB to lead his team to the Super Bowl? It sure looked like he was going to pull it off. In the first half of the ball game Sanchez had his team up 17-13. Jets’ corner Derrelle Rivis did a great job at holding Colt’s top receiver Reggie Wayne to only 55 yards. But the Colts made the necessary adjustments and held the Jets scoreless in the second half while putting up 17 points of their own.

So who is going to take Super Bowl XLIV? I have my money on Peyton Manning and the Colts.
