It has come to our attention that the 4th Generation iPhone may have a long, flat, black slab of glass as the BACKPLATE.

At least, that is the rumour.

You may have read before that I believe that the new iPhone may be dubbed the iPhone Video, because of the liklihood that the device may be able to capture full motion-video and hence allow for teleconferencing.

Now, one of our suppliers has told us that she has seen an actual backplate of the 4th Generation iPhone, and it is a slab of glass, black glass, complete with the same oleophobic finger-print-resistant technology that is found the recent iPhone 3GS digitizer screens Apple has developed.

Now, it IS April Fool’s Day, so we are not sure if this supplier was just clowning around with us, or if it’s a legitimate sighting. She had to go to bed because it was late. But damn if that would be a shocker!!

As a company that replaces broken iPhone screens all the time, the idea of MORE fragile glass on the BACK of the iPhone 4G makes our mouth water.

Now, if there is an oleophobic coating on the BACKPLATE, that could suggest the backplate might have touch-sensitivity, or perhaps it’s a cheap enhancement that is included to reduce the smudge marks on the back of the iPhone. We do iPhone backplate replacements here at milliamp.com all the time, and the plastic backplates are VERY easy to scratch (and crack). Likely the engineers at Apple have concluded that a glass backing on the new iPhone would, in most situations, hold up better than plastic.

Gives a whole new meaning of having the back of your device engraved, too, doesn’t it?!

The one and only sample that our supplier gazed at did not have an FCC number on it, did not have a model number on it, and only had “XXXXXXX” on it.

We will let you know if we hear anything more about this, so stay tuned.

I would not recommend that for the 1st gen touch. Your wifi actually improves with the metal backplate.

well, there is no hard drive in the ipod touch – i just assumed when you mentioned ‘hard drive upgrade’ you were referring to another device like the iPod video 5th Gen or iPod classic 6th Gen.

The Saints and the Colts are getting ready to battle it out on the field and all I can think about is seven layer dip, oh wait hamburgers, no maybe even steak.  Dont get me wrong I am a football fanatic, but this game means good home cooked food.  I am a college student and do not get meals like this very often so this is gold for me.  Almost as gold as those new backplates we recieved!(yeah you like that)  Anyways I have already made a list of what peoplel shoud have for the game.  First off, you have to have your beer, whats football without it.  Next move in to the dips and chips.  Salsa and queso is a must in Texas, as well as the seven layer dip.  You can throw in a french onion if you want but you shouldnt need it.  Moving on, get the grill fired up for some burgers, brats, and hotdogs.  Make sure you have all the condiments you need you dont want to run to the store in the 4th quarter for some relish.  Last off, the desserts!  One word, well two words… OREO BALLS, my friend Ashley made these a few years ago for the superbowl and they were amazing.  So good that I ate until I really was sick.  But now that I know that girl scout cookies are back in business I am going to have to add them to the list because face it there girl scout cookies.  I dont know how someone could perfect a cookie as well as the girl scouts of america.  Well I hope everyone eats well this superbowl sunday, and maybe gets to watch a little football.  Goooooooooo Saints!
