Stop the Cell Tower
There is an interesting effort underway going on in Sugar Land, Texas, specifically, in New Territory, a lush community in Southwest Houston. Seems there is going to be a big cell phone tower (complete with all the noisy machinery needed to install and maintain the structure) going up in New Territory, presumably the improve the wireless coverage in the area.
The big point of contention from the residents in New Territory, aside from the honking huge tower to be placed in their backyards, is the fact that the residents themselves were not told about the plans to install the cell phone tower in the first place.
This is obviously a dynamic, ever-developing story, so to keep up with the news, head to StopTheCellTower.com for all the details.

Have you ever had that feeling of nostalgia? Your walking to a familiar place from your childhood, it could be the ice cream parlor or the old playground you used to wreak havoc at, or a tree that may look familiar of ones you climbed in your day? Well I’ve thought a lot about my childhood these past couple of days and I remember being a super tomboy awaiting the new FILAS to come out. I loved the show gullah gullah island and Are you afraid of the dark, now I look at my fav show and its Law and Order : SVU (very different). Geez, I wish I could go back to those goodburger, all that, Kenan and Kel times. Yes I am a product of the 90’s and proud of it! I remember the summers playing in the little plastic pool with the fish painted on the side eating an ice cream sandwich. I used to beg my mother to buy me shoes that light up and find me the latest and greatest my little pony and beanie baby. Unlike the typical girl my whole wardrobe was teenage mutant ninja turtles, and my bed sheets/room all barney. Everything was easy back then, I mean the biggest game console back then was Nintendo and I was the unfortunate kid in school to not have a game boy. Children don’t understand how great technology has become. Things were more authentic back then, not as cookie cutter as they are now, all in all I miss those times but enjoy these times growing up.
P.S. I still wish I was Donatello and had the moves like him.

So there is this class that I am taking at the University of Texas at San Antonio that is very interesting. Being a kinesiology major I am very intrested in anatomy and physiology of the human body. I am not trying to hate on my professor because he is an excellent teacher, but I believe he is going to make everyone in our class start having eating disorders. Seriously, he preaches about what you should and should not eat, then at the very end always says, but the best thing to do is not eat at all. I seriously leave the class and dont want to eat for extened amounts of hours. Which in my case is unheard of, because as you noticed before I love to eat (superbowl food blog). Another interesting thing kinesiology related I got to do is sit in a Bod Pod pictured below. It is really cool, it takes measurements throuch air pressure of your body compostion/body fat. Very nifty device, I felt like I was going to be shot out of a space ship into outer space. Then I got out and saw my results…uh yah, anyways how about baseball season. I am pretty excited, usually I am not into baseball as much as football or basketball, but I just joined a fantasy baseball team and will win! It what I do. Well I guess I am going to go smell some food for lunch…Thanks Professor. Go Astros!!!

Sorry this pic was taken before I put on my makeup. HA

So, I’ve been working in customer service, in various incarnations, for nearly 6 years now and i’ve learned a thing or two about how customer complaints can and should be handled. Having been “behind the counter” for so long, I’ve haven’t had to utilize the customer service skills of businesses I patronize, until this weekend.
My girlfriend, Chelsea, was moving into a new apartment and wanted to use movers, but do it on the cheap and stay local, so she did some googling and some research and came up with a company she thought would fit her needs, SA Moving Guy. She called the company and described the move and was quoted $170, total, for the move. So, satisfied with the quote, she booked the movers for a Friday.
Friday rolls around and we have several phone conversations with the movers about how their running behind, etc etc. The storage space which would need to be packed up and moved, closed at 9, the mover’s weren’t able to even make their way to the space until 8:30. All of this after anticipating their arrival around 3-4pm. We grudgingly accept to reschedule for the next day.
The movers arrive on time and begin to load up the space. Over an hour and a half later they finally arrive at the apartment and begin to unload. Just before they finish, I decide to call their office manager to arrange for some sort of compensation for the day we wasted waiting on them.
I called the office manager to try and work out payment and some sort of compensation for our time and was told we would be charged MORE than we were quoted and that he could only authorize a waiver of their “arrival fee” as they did not arrive when they said they would, if I wanted more of a discount, I would have to call the owner Monday. Luckily, the movers were pretty good with their customer service skills and got the owner on the phone for me. The owner, while apologetic, was as insincere about it as is humanly possible, he justified their lateness with saying “things happen” and told me that he could not compensate me any further for our loss of time. After an arduous 5 minute discussion with the man, he discounted our moving rate and we ended our call. Our miserable experience with the company was finally coming to an end. We paid and tipped the movers and they went on their way.
The lack of enthusiastic and adequate customer service was an excellent reminder of how important that job is, especially when it has to do with personal goods left in the charge of strangers. I’m proud to say that I am a customer service representative for a company that does have enthusiastic customer service and does value its customers. I can see how much proper customer service makes a difference in the customer/client relationship and what a benefit that brings customers.
Here at Milliamp, we strive to exceed every single customer’s expectations. From evaluations, to specified repairs, to battery kits, we aim to make our customer’s experience with our products and services positive and pleasant and we do this through excellent communication, support, and a cheerful attitude.

A new Final Fantasy is approaching, soon a new world of adventures for FF fans will be open and ready to be explored. Final Fantasy has been around since December 18th of 1987 when the very first was released upon the world. Squaresoft was the name of the company that produced this awesome series of games, and now have merged with Enix to make SquareEnix- Producer of Final Fantasy 13. This game will have 15+ characters and a remarkable storyline about a world called Cocoon that is inhabited by many peaceful ai controlled people that have lived in happiness and prosperity for a very long time Now an ancient evil has arose to claim the world ,change laws ,and establish anarchy. Final Fantasy is one of my favorite series of RPG games and i look forward to the magical release of this epic game. For those of you that will indulge this fantasy, have fun in the world of Cocoon.

‘Ello ‘Ello!
I hope life has been good to everyone this weekend,
It has for me, but i come bearing a dilemma, of sorts, with the lack of a certain APP on the iphone now or even in the near future im sure.

When i was 8 years old The Legend Of Zelda : Ocarina of Time came out on the still fresh N64 game console. I remember getting it for christmas the month after it came out. The actual storyline to the game, at first glance of the back of the box description, seems very cliche “hero saves the princess from a terrible evil”.
Once you play the game for little over 30 minutes though you begin to realize the depth and mystery to the unfolding story of a kingdom plagued by its own control over time and the greater divine forces that govern the world. Even as an eight year old i could sense while i was playing the beginning portion that some very intense, and for lack of a better phrase, EPIC events were about to come forth and shoot through my unsuspecting sponge of a mind, and forever change my views as a person (though i didn’t realize it til about high school when i got into philosophy and all that). With some of the most intense dungeons, baffling mazes and puzzles, and the most surreal landscapes and songs that will stick with you for years (im listening to one right now!) as well as an endless supply of unique characters and sub-stories behind each one, this game is by far one of the best games of this and last decade. Truth is, the greater meaning behind the game that you will discover at the end (or even a couple of plays through) will blow you away ten times more than the actual game play will, though im more than sure you wont be able to leave your TV for at least 2 hours between each session.
Little do people know that the creator of Mario Bros. is the same creator of the Zelda series. He has also stated that though they both were created at the same time and are closely related (as you see in Zelda games, i.e. Mario pictures hanging on the walls of the castle in Hyrule, or in Paper Mario you can see the hero of Zelda laying in a bed in the mushroom village), he decided to take Mario in a more linear direction, with lots of movement and time restrictions, while making Zelda a complete opposite game of free adventure and endless play time.
Whats funny is that Mario became a much more world known household name, but zelda to this day (which has just half as many games out as mario bros.) holds the title for the best nintendo franchise for a game, though sadly only one out of every 20 people i meet have even heard the name Zelda.
So please, lets all come together and bring light to this problem.
Someone out there needs to make a cool APP to play an iphone version of Zelda somehow, because everybody knows (nerds like myself) that computer emulators just ARE NOT the same thing as our beloved consoles. Though an ipod APP wont do it full justice.
Wheres the love for Zelda? mine is on my left arm, where is yours?
your friendly neighborhood friend,
Mike 2.0

I repair tons of iPhones and iPods a week, usually noticing a trend on why certain devices break or crack. Here’s a list of things you can do to prevent any damage from your precious device.
1. Get a case for you iPod/iPhone (preferably a rubberized one). I noticed that an iPhone can break real easily if dropped on the floor from just a couple of feet above ground. If you have a case that can absorb some of the impact, then theres less of a chance that the glass on your iPhone will break. The same goes for the glass and LCD’s on iPods and the iPod touch.
2. Keep your iPod/iPhone away from water. Water damage is the number one reason a iPod or iPhone stops functioning fully. It will cause corrosion on major parts of the logic board, causing the device to work funny or stop working at all.
3. Avoid jail-breaking your iPod touch/iPhone. A jail-break on these device’s can run down a healthy battery and may cause a device to act very slow. There are a number of weird issues people come across when they jail-break their device.
4. Be careful where you leave your iPod/iPhone. If you leave your device in a car on a very hot day, there is a chance that something may cook on the inside, and making your device useless. Also, keep it with you at all times when in public, because these devices are a great prize in a robber’s eye. When your not using it, make sure to store it in a secure place that is dry and cool.
If anything bad happens to your device, there is no need to worry. There is a chance that a technician here at Milliamp will be able to help you. So no matter how bad the damage looks, it cant hurt to go with our evaluation service to see what we can to do to get your device up and running again.

I was browsing through the App Store today looking for a good game to download. I came across Plants vs Zombies. The title sounds stupid but what really caught my attention was that it was rated 5 stars with 4500 reviews. That i
s really hard to do. The point of the game is to kill zombies before they reach your house. To do this you have a wide selection of plants with various abilities. Regular green plants shoot and kill zombies, walnuts slow them down, sunflowers supply you with energy so you can grow more plants, and blue plants shoot twice as fast as the green ones. There are more types of plants that I have yet to unlock but I’m working on it. When you first start off you are limited to only sunflowers and green plants. The game really starts to pick up when you unlock the mines and bombs. This is a great game to have when you want to kill some time while waiting at a brothel. Its lots of fun, easy to learn, and its only $2.99 in the app store.

Hello people! I’ve done some awesome things the past 2 weeks. So, I got to go to the NBA All-Star game with my girlfriend. The best part of the whole thing was being able to that crazy huge stadium again. The game had a few cool moments, some nice dunks, passes….whatever. The lines to get in the staduim were SUPER long. There was alot of mud every where too…..that got on some Jordans that came out back in ‘98….that i decided to wear that very day. Not cool. It was an experience thats for sure, not sure if I would do it again though. While in Dallas I got to play with some snow! I havent played in snow since ‘05, so that was awesome.
The next cool thing I got to do was see my favorite band in the whole world. Switchfoot. Twice. They played here in San Antonio and in Corpus Christi. Before both shows me, my girlfriend and my brother got to hang out with the band for a little while. We got to spend more time with them in Corpus though. The singer used to have a Gibson SG like the one I have. He said it was one of his all time favorite guitars. Sadly, an airline messed it up in baggage. Perhaps I’ll give him mine….or trade?! I’ll see what he says when I see them again in May haha.
Now, the moment we’ve all been waiting for. THE BEST PIZZA IVE EVER HAD. Romes Pizza used to be my favorite pizza. Then it was Big Lous. Now another place has stolen my heart/stomach. Port Aransas Brewing Company. Obviously, they are based out of Port Aransas, TX. I dont drink beer, but they have a pretty cool 100 beer club. You try over 100 flavors of beer and then you get shirt. lol, pretty cool. The pizza was soooo simple, yet amazing. They dont use any sauce. They bread is very thin and crunchy/crispy. The pepporoni is 4 times bigger than normal. I cant remember what kind of cheese they had, but that was amazing as well. If you ever head down to the beach there, I highley reccomend stoping by Port Aransas Brewing Company.
That’s it for me friends. Im working late tonight and need to get back fixing your iPod/iPhone.
Have a great week.

We see it every once in a while, perhaps as frequent as twice a month, where we get an envelope or a small mailer that is supposed to contain an iPod or an iPhone, but when we open it – nothing inside. Sometimes the tear in the envelope is obvious – you can see where the iPod busted free from it’s paper packaging. Other times, the box is sealed with tape, but there was just enough gap to allow an un-secured iPod nano from slipping out.
We of course hate when this happens – we lose a sale and of course have to break the bad news to the customer.

iPod Repair Starts with Good Packaging
That is why we try to give our customers guidance when it comes to selecting the right materials for wrapping up your device so that it is well-protected during the trip to us, as well as making sure it does not slide loose from its’ packaging. And never, ever toss your iPod or iPhone into a regular plain evelope – or we might have to tell you that your device arrived in worse shape than when you sent it, or it never arrived at all.
Best regards,

With the 2010 Winter Olypmics already under way in Vancouver Canada, the United States is off to a rough start in a few events but with 24 overall medals so far the United States is on top of the medal count leaderboard with the two closest countries following behind being Germany with 18 medals, and Norway with 12 medals. Although the US is struggling in some events they might have pulled up the biggest upsets last night overwelming the Canadian hockey team and defeating them 5-3. With Canada being heavely favored to win gold, not too many people could have called this upset but with the United States goalie (Ryan Miller) stopping 45 of 42 shots on goal you leave yourself a really good shot at winning the game. Going 3-0 in their hockey division, the US will have an extra day off in preparing for their next game in the quarter finals on Wednesday Feb. 24th at 12:00pm. With the next round of the Olympics only getting increasing in difficulty, hopefully the US will be able to survive better than the brontosaurus’.

I went on a winery tour with my girlfriend this past weekend in Fredericksburg, TX. There are at least 9 wineries in Fredericksburg alone – who knew Texas was so big on wine? It seems that the Texas wines are a lot sweeter than most I’ve had from California, France, Italy, etc. Must be something in the grapes, or maybe Texans are just that sweet? We stayed at a bed and breakfast at a home built in 1905, and I don’t think they’ve changed decorations since then either. I found some letters in a really old purse while snooping around the house (if they didn’t want me snooping, they shouldn’t have left that stuff around!) and it was dated back to the 1910s! We ate a a very nice sushi restaurant called August Es. As good as the food was, I couldn’t stop looking at the creepy 20 foot mural of a bunch of nicely-dressed dogs staring at us and sitting on couches.
I had a strange dream the other night. I dreamt that I was at a party. It was time to go home, and someone asked me to drive Lionel Richie home. So Lionel got in the car, and on the road I asked him what kind of music he liked. He told me he didn’t really like music much, which is surprising considering he’s a musician. I guess I was too inebriated to drive, so we got out of the car and started walking. On the way there, we broke in to a closed library and started reading books. At that moment I realized he wasn’t Lionel Richie at all, rather Sherman Hemsley from The Jeffersons. I don’t remember anything after that, but I’m sure I was embarrassed for calling him Lionel all day.

Hey, friends!
Day in and day out, we get a truckloads of packages from FedEx, US Postal Service and, of course, UPS! Filing in and out, these guys are always bringing us shiny new parts, broken iPods, busted iPhones and even a few XBOX 360s in dire need of some tender lovin’ care. (By the way, how in the world DOES one spell the plural of XBOX anyways???)
We’ve grown to love our drivers and always thank them for not blocking any of us in when they park.
I believe that we’re all accustomed to the standard brown truck for UPS, FedEx and their white trucks and USPS with their cute little trucks. However, what does one do when they want to jazz it up a little? Sorry, no custom paint jobs here, but why not add some flames?
Well, apparently our driver, Mike, didn’t add them himself, but he did come in from a delivery to find them there. No matter! I’m sure it makes it go extra fast!
Kind of like how the spoiler on my car makes my car go faster…
Gotta run — back to emails and phone calls!

We are continuously looking for ways to improve things here at Milliamp, like our infamous laser pointers, and recently focused our attention to the telephone greeting that people first hear when they call in to us.
We get a lot of phone calls each day – a LOT (just ask Marian).
Therefore, we wanted to make our greeting simplier and to the point, and help people get to the correct department quickly and painlessly. We also added a quick shout-out in our greeting to the iPad repairs that we will be offering very soon to the masses.
Curious and don’t want to call in to hear it? Take a listen here:
New iPhone Repair Greeting
Speaking of iPad repair shout-outs, we also recently updated the signature line on our emails, to help spread the word that we have yet another Apple device to add to our list of devices that we can repair here at Milliamp.

iPad Repairs Signature Line
Have a great Friday, safe weekend, and let us know when you are ready to get your iPod or iPhone fixed!!

I remember the good ole days when The Real World was the only reality show on the schedule and when you had to use the scrolling channel 7 list of “what’s on” and wait 10 minutes for it to come full circle if you missed the channel you were looking for. The year was 1992. Just kidding, I don’t remember that…I was 3. These days, I’m watching 3-4 reality shows a week (oh hush, I know you’re all secretly watching the Bachelor every monday night hiding in your rooms with your popcorn, on the edge of your seat during the “rose ceremony”).
The networks create shows for every possible life situation, and even some circumstances that would NEVER EVER occur in real life (i.e. to fall in love with Flava Flav). It seems like in the last year or two, these shows have surpassed sitcoms and dramas in ratings and abundance. Some of them give us a glimpse into the everyday lives of celebrities or faux-celebrities (coughSPEIDIcough) and others give regular people opportunities to become famous for…simply arguing with each other or dating on national TV. My question is, is this a trend, or is this development revolutionizing TV watching for ALL TIME?!?! I think there will always be reality show naysayers, but soon we all may be forced to conform to this trend. So what if Snooki Snickers, or whatever her name is, and Mike “The Situation” make 100 times more money than your average blue collar worker?

So, I take my wife to a local movie establishment to see the new monster movie, The Wolfman. We were having so much fun that night, to be more exact, things went swimmingly. Like most movies we show up early in order to reap the benefits of the an ancient system of organization…the “line”. Any who, we finally get through the theater doors. My first thought is that this place doesn’t have much seating; my second thought is, “Oh there’s two seats in the middle!”. As i approach the row, I kindly tell a women excuse me, as I try to make my way to a seat. Immediately I was denied passage to the promised land. The lady whom I had treated so nicely a few moments ago had revealed herself to be the real monster. This lady was trying to tell me that her and this other women are saving 12 seats. Unimpressed by the lady’s attempt to command the seating arrangements, I kindly made my way to the middle of the row they said was “reserved”. This action by me really opened the flood gates to the situation, because as they were trying to instruct me to move, the rest of the theater was telling them that that can’t try to save a whole row. Even though I sort of instigated the situation, I wasn’t the one who the ladies wanted to argue with. Soon after the start of the complaints an usher was trying to take command of the situation, and he told the women exactly what I had heard at another theater, and that is that, a ticket holder can only sav
e one seat. So if the dirty dozen wanted to have all of their seats taken care of they would have needed 6 ticket holders present, since they did not I was free to sit where ever I wanted. But, for some reason this explanation was not good enough for this rag tag duo, so the manager was brought in at this point. When the manager arrives he didn’t do anything, and he was obviously under some sort of influence. His speech was slurred and I don’t think he could walk too straight of a line. In the end we got the seats that we deserved and they got the heck out and asked for a refund. As for the movie i think they did a great job at making a suspenseful feature that may keep some guessing, but for those who are tuned in the the symbolism and dialogue you may quickly guess the ending. The cinematic effects were spot on. I honestly enjoyed the dark and gloomy sets, and the accents were not bad. However, I was mad that Benicio’s character didn’t have a English accent at all, but they quickly explain this with a few lines of dialogue…phew! All in all I would like to give this movie a 3.5 out of 5, but more importantly I hope people start learning how to act at the movies…especially the managers that work there.

We get a lot of requests to fix iPods and iPhones, and we are happy to do it – it’s our livelihood! More times than not, we are able to fix iPods that need new batteries, iPhones that got partially-dunked in soda, and iPod touch screens that got shattered (just to name a few of the many types of repairs we can perform these days). We get devices from all over the world – most from the United States, but many from England, Canada, Japan, Abu Dhabi, China, Italy, Brazil, etc.
We even fixed an iPod that got run over by a tank from a U.S. soldier stationed in Afghanistan.
Recently, however, we had a woman walk into our shop with a broken iPod touch in need of repair. Now, we see a lot of iPod touch screens that are shattered, and from looking at the front of this device, our first impression was, heck, that’s something that we can do – no problem:

Damaged iPod touch Screen
But when we flipped over the iPod touch to inspect the backplate, our hopes to fix the device dropped:

iPod touch Backplate Damage
It’s an interesting story: a young man was using his iPod touch while working out and, when he lost grip of a twenty-five pound weight, his 2nd Generation ipod touch slipped out of his pocket, failling to the ground, and the weight fell right on top of it.
Rather than waste a lot of time, MaryLynn, the mother of the young man who accidentally-damaged his prized possession, took a few pictures and sent them to milliamp.com, just to see if it might be something we could fix.
We were not sure if this amount of damage would be repairable – and we told the customer that the odds were pretty low that we could fix it. We always try to set our customers’ expectations about everything from the amount of time it takes a device to move through our shop, to the likelihood that a repair could be successful, and this strange situation was no exception.
When we physically received the iPod touch, we were encouraged that the device appeared to power on when we pressed the ‘on’ button – a bright light on the damaged iPod touch LCD suggested faint life still remained.
Our main hope was the the iPod touch logic board survived the dumbbell trauma – if it did, we were sure we could replace the damaged LCD, digitizer/screen, battery, and battered backplate – iPod touch repairs that we do all day long here at milliamp.
Well, it turns out that the weight that was dropped landed right between the top and bottom of the logic board, so the owner’s data was safe and sound. We had one of our technicians re-build up a “new” iPod touch around his oh-so-lucky logic board, and the device looked brand new once again:

iPod touch Damaged then Repaired
In this image, you can see three of the battered components (LCD, backplate, and battery), along with a picture of the re-built iPod touch (the blue plastic you see is there to protect the brand new, scratch-free backplate we installed).
The young man was so excited that his iPod touch had been repaired (given to him by his Mom as an early Valentine’s gift) that he rushed to his Facebook account and gushed to his friends about the whole ordeal, and his happiness on how it all turned out.
We love happy iPod touch repair endings! Start your iPod touch repair adventure here now!

Hello again everyone, its about that time again for a blog about games, now I’m still getting used to blogging a review for something so please excuse me if this blog is all over the place. Now for the past few years i have been on and off with a certain online PC game. I can still remember the excitement of hearing about its release and all the adventures it was supposed to have. As the title says, i am of course talking about Blizzard’s World of Warcraft. Now i know a lot of people don’t really ride the MMORPG(massive multiplayer online role playing game) train but i for one love this type of gaming genre. It, like most games do, gives you the feeling of being transported into another world and do things that are not normally done in real life(obviously). The story behind this game is a long and sometimes confusing one, but overall it’s of two old races, Humans and Orks, that are constantly fighting each other in an all out, bloody, limb dismembering war. As time went by other races came into the picture, Night/Blood elves, a not so alien looking race called the Draeni, an Undead race, and a few others. As any other RPG game there are different roles one can choose to play and level it up to the level 80 cap they have on the game right now. It usually is a long road to that milestone of reaching the highest level of the game and being able to play the end-game content, but with the recent updates they have made, reaching that has become easier for someone who is just starting out into this genre. I know some people think that this game could get boring after awhile(i know i did for about three or four months) but after actually being able to sit down and play the game i have gotten my interest back into the game. There are so many things that can be done, even if you have an hour to play you can get a quest finished or maybe go into the PvP(player versus player) part of the game. Probably the biggest part of this game is the end-game content, and what I’m talking about is the 25-man raids. These are dungeons where 25 people go in and kill everything in sight, while collecting new armor and stronger weapons. Personally my computer cannot handle these 25-man raids but i have seen them done and it has motivated me to start building a new computer. Like i said, i know i was all over the place with this blog but i tried as best as i could. If you would like to know exactly what i was talking about i advise you to look this game up and try the 10-day trial to get a small taste of the greatness that is World of Warcraft. Well hopefully the next blog will be more structured and not as long…but until then i am back to the search of the next game i am going to review.

Hello everyone! So I have a pretty exciting week coming up. I get to go to the NBA All-Star game in Dallas, and I get to see my favorite band of all time (SWITCHFOOT)….twice! Thanks to the greatness that is the iPhone, i’ll be able to share my experiences with some friends. There is a new App out calles “Knocking Live Video”. This thing is amazing. It does exactley what the title says……LIVE VIDEO! All I have to do is send out an invite to someone who has the app and voila! They can see whatever image is coming from my iPhone. Isn’t that awesome?! This is the kinda of technology that I get excited for. This App is basically what I imagined the future to be like when I was little. Now I know we have webcams and what not, but this is something on my phone!
Another cool App that I love is “Words with Friends”. I love all the cool App Games that I have on my phone, but this is a game that I can play with my friends and family. Im even playing with my Aunt! The game is basically Scrabble. I’ve gotten into a few competitative games with my best friend Kyle, who is a genius. I have yet to beat him…..even when I cheat.
Well thats pretty much it for me friends. I should have another post next with my the tale of my All-Star game adventure. Also, while im in Dallas, im gonna try to go to some good eating spots for a review. Have a great weekend and stay out of the rain if you’re in San Antonio, see you next time.

The Apple rumour mill is swirling again, hard-core, this time, about the possbility of a new 4th Generation iPhone, or iPhone 4G.
To give you a brief historical tour of the iPhone, the very first iPhone that came out in June 2007 has been confusingly dubbed the 2G iPhone, because the iPhone that was released after it was called the iPhone 3G (since it could run on the EDGE and the 3G cellular network). The next iteration of the iPhone after the iPhone 3G was the iPhone 3GS, where the ‘S’ suffix was tacked onto the end (presumably to reflect the faster processing ’speed’ inside the device).
Since this would be the fourth version, or generation, of the Apple iPhone, and because the phone may use (or be capable of using) the 4G cellular network, people are currently referring to it as the iPhone 4G. Perhaps that name will stick, and Apple will release the next iPhone as the iPhone 4G. But I am not totallly convinced that this will be the official Apple name for the new iPhone – expecially now that a few pictures have surfaced of a digitizer/LCD that is a smidge taller than the previous iPhone 3G/S digitizers, courtesy of iResQ:

Could the New iPhone Sport Video Capture Functionality?
The photographs, which I believe are real and have not been doctored in any way, show a small, oblong opening right above the earpiece. Some believe this could be a proximity sensor, and some have gone so far as to imagine that it is a video camera that would allow for video chatting. The surface of this strange component has interestingly been described as “reflective”.
Is it possible that this material would allow for a special video camera behind it to see though this barrier and capture images, in the same manner as a two-way mirror? And why is the material “reflective”? Well, that would make a great surface to gaze into to ensure that your mug was in view if you were video-chatting with someone, wouldn’t it?! Of course, this is all wild theory right now – very few people know for sure what Apple’s new iPhone will look like, and what features it will support, and no one is officially talking about it on the record now.
Some have suggested that this port is a proximity sensor only (the part inside every iPhone that dims and locks out your screen as you hold it up to your face), but perhaps it can do that, plus more?
To take this a step further, IF the new iPhone DOES have video capture and chatting capabilities, I think it is possible that the new iPhone could be dubbed the iPhone Video (maybe you will have heard it here first).
Apple has used the word ‘Video’ before in its’ iPod product line: the 5th Generation iPod Video was the first iPod to be able to play movies, television shows, commercials, and so on, hence the name. And if an iPhone was released that had the ability to capture full-motion video and allow for real-time video chats is such a smooth and non-obtrusive manner as the location and appearance that this suspicious, reflective port suggests, it is likely that the word ‘Video’ (or perhaps just a letter ‘V’ [iPhone 3GV, anyone?!]) will be tied with the new name.
So what do you think? Does Apple plan on offering a video capturing feature with their new iPhone? Will the new iPhone be called an iPhone 4G? Will companies like ours start promoting ‘iPhone Video Repair‘? Only time will tell, my iPhone-loving friends!

bling-bling!
At Milliamp, we’re all a bunch of winners, but occasionally we do have to draw one out of a hat in order to determine the leader of the pack. Last week, we were busy bees doing our weekly hustle and bustle to fix iPods, rescue iPhones, revive an XBOX (or ten!), answers inquiries all while keeping a smile on our faces! We kick ass and take names and then kick ass again. Rain couldn’t get us down especially after Anthony announced the big giveaway of the highly coveted golden backplate for one lucky employee’s iPhone 3G or 3G S.
When asked if they were excited about the giveaway, fellow Customer Service Rep Wes couldn’t hardly sit still to harp about how ecstatic they were about the possibility of one of the talented repair technicians pimping their iPhone! A simple, “S*** YES!” surely said it all.
Although our bearded friend did not win, we are proud to announce Mark as the Chosen One. After our weekly company powwow where the winner was drawn, Mark did a jig, fist pump and cheerfully claimed his prize after hearing of the joyous news.
In fact, Mark was so excited about this extreme makeover his already cool iPhone, he decided that his normal casual look would have to be “bumped up a notch.” No, no–Mark did not decide to start rocking fat gold chains with cubic zirconia-laden pendants hanging from his neck. No, he opted for the much classier golden “grill” to jazz up his pearly whites.
So, if you see Mark, know that he’s in an elite club that YOU TOO can join if you send your iPhone into us for repairs. Interested in looking like a rockstar? Then click here to get started.

Hello fellow milliampers! It’s time for me to tell you about my weekend again, since I have apparently no imagination (feel free to interject with an adamant ‘NO!!’). Friday started out normally enough, work and my lovely interactions with clumsy iPhone owners. After saving the world one digitizer at a time, I began my voyage to Austin, TX with a couple of amigos. We passed the time by listening to lame 80s music and trying to guess the name of the band (Ratt, etc.) with the help (of course) of an iPhone and that song-recognition app (i sadly don’t have an iPhone and don’t know what it’s called). After enough of that torture, we finally made it to The Hole in the Wall off Guadalupe in Austin. There, Clay Nightingale and Moonlight Towers (first time seeing them, awesomenessss)

Gleeson performing with Channing Lewis of Grand Champeen
performed before my good friends Gleeson (The Very Very Best of Gleeson) played their CD release show. They basically played the whole record, which was amaaazing (plus AC/DCs Dirty Deeds…unfortunately they didn’t play ‘Victoria’ by The Kinks and i was somewhat disappointed). They were joined on stage by Grand Champeen’s Channing Lewis (check out ‘Dial T for This’) and Mandible’s Phil McEachern (Here Come the Mandible). I highly suggest pretty much every band i’ve mentioned (Ratt’s Round &Round is pretty legit… haha). Well after the show (Gleeson didn’t play ’til 12:30, but I was high on rock’n'roll(aaaand had a little Shiner)..so I didn’t even notice), we crashed at some friend’s house where I received a horrible night’s sleep on the floor. For some reason, I’m a disgustingly early of a morning person and woke up at 8:52 a.m. (yes, that time is burned into my memory because it was so horrific) and proceeded to make everyone breakfast with my buddy Jay, who is also a morning person (thank God). Anyways, after that we all went to Independence Brewery in Austin (duh). SIX dollars for a pint glass and three pints of their cerveza deliciosa!! (oatmeal stout=fun times for your taste buds, they need lovin’ too!!!) It was a beauuuutiful day and we spent it drinkin some berrrs (beers with an awesome Creed-esque accent) and hanging out on some blankets, haha. The tasting at the brewery is the first Saturday of each month! I plan on going back fo’ sho, although I did break the pint glass i bought upon arriving back at my apartment. Here I am, finally arriving home after an exhausting weekend of good times and I try to make it out of my car with all of my schtuff. As you can infer, this was a bad idea and I broke/shattered the glass upon heaving my lifeless body out of my civic. I was sad. Buuuut I’ll just go back next month and get another pint glass (great excuse, ya?). Well if curiosity overcomes your being and you’re thinking “Hey, Lindsey’s a pretty cool girl, perhaps I should check out some of the music she’s suggested to me? She wouldn’t lead us astray!!”, then you are in luck my friends! Cdbaby.com carries all of the albums I’ve mentioned! (http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/Gleeson) From that site, you can navigate to the other records I’ve mentioned in this eloquent journey of writing. I’ve been listening to Here Come the Mandible a lot lately, every song is really great. The songs are a really imaginative way of looking at life, coupled with quirky and sometimes pessimistic lyrics plusss really catchy tunes. It’s a win-win. Anyways, if you like what you hear let me know by commenting on the blog! Don’t worry, I’ll be back soon to tell you about yet another weekend’s occurences!!
p.s. Here is the link to Gleeson’s myspace:http://www.myspace.com/gleesonmusic You can listen to a couple of full songs, and ironically enough all of the other bands are in their top friends! enjoy!!

For those that know me, I have a bit of a domain name addiction. I think it reached its’ peak of insanity when I purchased the domain blake-is-the-new-sanjaya.com (true story) a few years back when Sanjaya was voted off ‘American Idol’ and hack Blake was deemed the next in line Howard Sterns’ goal to inspire enough people to vote a talentless dweeb to the top spot.
I’ve struggled to hold my personal obsession with URL’s back, but I think we got a bit lucky when, back in April 2009, we registered the iPad repair domain names ipad-repair.com and ipadrepair.com. Since we are going to be hard-core in the iPad repair business, having domain names that say what we do will be most helpful to Milliamp LTD:

Two New iPad Repair Domain Names
For now, these two sites aren’t doing a whole heck of a lot for us, but they will eventually become a great resource for our future customers seeking iPad repairs and parts.
Now, who has any suggestions for helping us monitize our leet-inspired domain names for Twitter?
Have a great evening,

P.S. We had two GOLD iPhone backplate winners this week – one worker here at Milliamp LTD and one iPhone fanatic from Alaska. More details on this coming soon!
