Creating music is hard when you live in Writer’s Block Land

by Chris on January 15, 2010

The title above was meant as a joke but now that I think about it…not so much. I have been writing songs for about 10yrs and good songs for about 3, but I seem to be stuck in a place where my creative light is too dim to light the page I need to write on. I am hoping that this blog will renew my writing spirit and allow the words to flow freely. Or it would at least keep me from wasting so much time playing video games.  I never really studied the art of creative writing and as of late i have felt that it may have helped a bit. When I was was younger  and life was still a mystery to me it seemed that I could write about almost anything but now that I know more I feel as though boundaries have been set…. wow this is turning out to be a pretty depressing read, sorry guys. Most blogs give helpful information like what to do when attacked by a bear, or where to find the best food, or how to style your hair if it’s curly, but I guess this blog is more of a request…… So you sitting there reading this on the clock….. if you could… at this exact moment…. hear a song about anything…..What would it be? I am looking to release my songs by June of this year and credit will be given (I do not mean money) so take time and really think about it.  Thank you for reading

Hmmm…such an introspective post. I guess if i had to have a song written, it would be about working with people that were born when i was graduating high school. Either that, or the damian-needs-a-new-iphone-home-button blues.

Here’s a perfect EP:

1. What to Do When Attacked By a Bear
2. How To Style Your Hair If (It’s Curly)
3. Where To Find The Best Food
4. Where To Find The Best Food (live version)
5. Where To Find The Best Food (club remix)

But seriously, I have over 8000 songs on my iPod, and I know what maybe 3 of them are about. So write about nothing like Beck does, and you’ll win.
