6th Generation iPod classic Repair Customer Comments

The following are typical comments that we have received from customers who have required repairs on their 6th Generation Apple iPod Classic. They may not make a whole lot of sense in this current context, but are listed here to give you an idea of the kinds of repairs that we offer for this model.

My ipod classic 80 gb has a dead battery. If plugged into computer it shows a "!" that says "charging, please wait", and will sit there forever and do nothing. if plugged into apple wall charger it comes right up and works fine. once unplugged from either one it cuts out completely and is unresponsive to anything. My Ipod Classic works when plugged into a power source but turns off immediately when unplugged. I believe the battery is no longer functional and needs repair. I use my IPOD daily. Used it at lunch time and turned it off. Always use HOLD feature. 3 hours later I turned it on and the screen was black. No indication that it works at all. When I plug it into my speaker doc a screen comes on with the Apple Logo and after about 30 seconds the menus screen comes up. If I unplug the power cord on the speakers the IPOD goes black again. I used charger in my car and the same thing happens-I plug it in the apple comes on and then I can listen. If I am in the middle of listening to a podcast and I unplug it when I plug it back in it does not return to the place I left off. It returns to the menu and I have to select the podcast and fast forward to the part I left off at. All of this happened with no warning. Like I said I use it practically every day at lunch time and on my way home from work. I carry it in my bag and I work in an office. It does not get exposed to extreme heat or cold. Since it stops working immediately when the outside power is disconnected I have self-diagnosed that the battery needs replacement. I hope this can be done without losing all of my downloads.

Replace the battery. This was given to me I bought a new charger. It holds charge for maybe 10 min then whiped out. Left it charge a day and just drained with no results. Please replace battery.... please contact by phone Fell into some water for like 2 seconds and now battery won't hold charge. I think I just need a new battery. Screen is black and wont turn on and my computer won't recognize the device. Had been stopping in the middle of playing and had to hit play button to start so I'm thinking battery...?!? It's just a little over a year old and gets used moderatly. Just need the battery to be replaced. My ipod's battery gets drain very fast. It works if it's plugged into a power source but once it's charged it doesn't keep the charge more than a few hours. I think the battery needs to be replaced.

I paid for the battery to be sent to my house. Although the technicians down there are the best in the business this is just a battery change. Thank you! battery won't hold a charge won't work unless it has a power source. The ipod works when I connect it to a power source and the battery charges. As soon as I disconnect the ipod from the source it immediately turns off and I can't get it to turn off. When I connect again the entire ipod resets and takes me to the standard page (asking me for my language preference). I think I need a battery replacement though I'm concerned it may be something else. please replace the battery. My ipod doesn't turn on anymore. Only turns on when i plug it to an ac outlet. I already have ipod open and just want to replace battery #616-0232 for 160 gig ipod. please ensure that i ordered the correct battery. I think the battery just croaked. Do not erase data during this battery install. The Ipod does not hold a charge AT ALL. Once it is disconnected from a constant charge it immediately turns off. I would guess the battery is completely shot or just a connection is loose. If the date must be lost for you to proceed do so. Battery won't hold its charge any more- it runs out very quickly. Battery replacements. Work fine on the power source but as soon as you unplug they'll die. Customer says that they'll get very hot occasionally heard static in the 120GB iPod classic at one point noticed it was hot and stopped using note. Devices are used when exercising and seem to only get warm then. There is NO need to ship these back (customer would pick up).

Please email me the shipping information and if possible message me too. Thanks. battery drains quickly during a charge session it will not complete charge. The 6th gen Classic 160 gb device is recognised by the computer updates and synchs without difficulty and will show as being fully charged when connected but when disconnected shows no battery life at all. I have at no time gotten the sad face or had any difficulty with the system hardware or associated software. The sole problem appears to be battery death. At this time batteries on both are fully depleted when disconnected. I do not believe either device has a password associated.

wont accept a charge always says still charging no matter how long plugged in it continues to need a charge. Everything was fine and I downloaded the latest version of itunes. It wouldn't sync anymore then it wouldn't charge either. Dead as a door nail. I did call their support and did everything they told me but nothing.

When classic ipod 120gb is connected to computer or charger via firewire it functions perfectly but claims the battery is fully charged. When disconnected the ipod turns completely off or connected to USB the ipod apple sign flashes over and over again. Disk Mode doesn't seem to function. Is replacing the battery the only step for this ipod that needs to be done? Customer wants the battery replaced on his iPod classic. When he brought it in it showed as fully charged like as if it were on a wall charger but it wasn't on a charger. I reset it and it went back to normal. When i unplugged it the battery meter was at 10% so I plugged it in. Customer would still like the battery replaced in the event that it is an auto-decline. I spoke to a customer service representative recently who said that if I include the battery with my back plate repair then the battery replacement can be done at the same time as the back plate replacement. Please let me know if this is not the case. There are no other issues with the device other than the dead battery and the cosmetic appearance of the back plate. Please do not hesitate to contact me if there are any questions or concerns before repairing. My battery is dead otherwise it has been working fine till the last day with no other issues. It typically charges in my car but I noticed that there is a point at which the battery stops recharging - when the battery is very low my car charger does not work I need to plag it into AC only to bust the charge. In either case if you could replace the battery such that I could charge it without dranage it would be great. Thank you! Only problem is drastically shortened battery life. Call in cust 160 GB CLassic Battery replace. Will send to us. Ipod classic 6th generation needs a new battery. both ipods do not hold a charge. had the HD replaced a few months back by a different company but Apple is saying it's a battery (or battery connector)problem. iPod won't turn on. IPOD CLASSIC 80GB WILL NOT RESET. WILL NOT TURN ON. APPLE SAID THAT THE BATTERY NEEDS REPLACING. batt no longer holds a charge. The iPod no longer turns on and will not charge. Per the Apple Store the battery is shot. Battery will not hold a charge. Thank you. Ipod classic 160 gb cannot sync with itune and I have consulted Mr Anthony Magnabosco and after doing hard drive diagnosis we suspected is the battery problem. My iPod never had any issues until it died. I used it one evening left it hooked to my Bose speaker which also charges it and the next morning it was dead. I assumed the Bose died too so I plugged them both up but the iPod never charged. The buttons did not work could not even bring up menu it just said charging forever. My friend who knows a little plugged it into the wall & could get to the menu and said it immediately said fully charged so that indicated the battery. It is still dead and unable to charge. Thanks. It's almost 3 years old so this is to be somewhat expected. I had it plugged into a FM tuner in my car and it was playing fine. Turned off the car iPod was fine turned the car back on iPod becomes a brick. Im not sure if it got a power surge and fried everything or if it was just the batterys time to go. Im a little worried that it might have damage through the dock. I keep it in a case but of course the dock is always exposed. And snow has a tendency to get EVERYWHERE. So it could be a multitude of things but Im going to assume that its the battery. I have used the device most everyday and have had no problems whatsoever until about 4 days ago. It was playing in my truck and then all it once it quit. No power nothing. It is connected to a FM modulator device that allows it to play through the radio. I thought the device also served as an alternate power source as it has charged it up in the past. I tried the reset function of Menu and Select buttons. No luck. I tried to sync it to my Mac Book Pro. Nothing. I tried everything I can think of. It has never seen moisture that I know of. It has been used in very cold temperatures but it has always come on and worked fine.

replace the battery in this device. Greetings. I sent you my 6th generation 80 Gb ipod classic. The problem I noticed with my ipod is the battery after a full charge stays charged for like 30 minutes only than shuts off. Sometimes it'll shut off quicker and say the ipod needs to reboot. Thanks for all of your help in this matter. Kind regards. attempted to replace BP themselves damaged lcd and bp. Faceplate Backplate and LCD replacement. Please call if this can not be repaired as ordered. The charging port is visibly broken. When attaching a charger it no longer is able to charge. charging port is mangled and requires replacement. 6th Generation FP purchase. The headphone jack doesn't play music out of the right speaker. Thanks for the help!

headphone connector broken off in jack. Defective hold switch. The iPod does show up on the source list on iTunes, but does not function. Thank you. When I plug my ear phones into the earjack, it will not play out of the left ear.

hpj replacemenet. alot of static out both l/r channels. HPJ sound 1 HP only. I'm only getting sound out of one headphone. Everything else is in working order as best as I can tell. I've had this problem before--If you guys have a particular iPod case that you recommend that can ward against this I'd appreciate the advice. I mostly use my iPod when I work out and I usually (but not always) use an arm band instead of a clip on at the waist. Thanks. Whenever the headphone plug is bumped or jiggled I lose sound on one channel or the other. I tried another headphone with plug and the problem occurred too. The headphone plugs look satisfactory with no erosion of metal that might be causing the problem. The only other possibility is the headphone jack on the iPod Classic 80GB. I read on the Internet several people who had to replace their headphone jack. Could you please replace the headphone jack on this iPod and test it by shaking the plug and seeing whether the problem will/will not reoccur? I am told that most iPod owners face this problem after 1-2 years. Could you confirm this time length-to-problem-reoccurence? When will I have to get back to you for the next repair? Thanks. hpj only works thru 1 hp & when there's pressure it works thru both channels

No sound output from the headphone jack. The unit syncs and plays normally. It looks a little rough but the only thing that I see that is wrong is no sound. HI I broke the connector on headphone jack as you can see while trying to change the back cover please replace it and install headphone jack set up. Thank you

sound intermittint through HP's sometimes sound from 1 side. I believe the headphone jack is worn and not working in one ear. I have replaced headphones but the jack is to blame. One side (ear) of the headphones started cutting in and out. Eventually it stopped working all together. I thing replacing the jack will solve the issues I've be having with my ipod. All else seems the be running\working smoothly and like it should. When I first got the Ipod I used a pair of black Phillips headphones and the piece that holds the headphones into the jack got stuck in the jack. I tried numerous times with paper clips and super glue to get the piece out but never succeeded. The Ipod is brand new in every other aspect aside from the headphone piece being stuck inside the jack. on the ipod classic 160 no sound out the bottom or the top and maby a battery thank you - I am a return customer. My Ipod has problems with the earphone jack. Because it does not fit securely in the jack it affects the audio quality. There are no other issues with my Ipod. static from HPJ. Audio cuts in and out of right speaker. Assume this is due to a faulty headphone jack. Also occassionally have unexpected lockups where the device needs to be shutdown charged and restarted. This may be related to the battery but not really sure. There is a problem with the headphone jack on my iPod. One of the copper connectors inside the jack is slightly broken and it has interfered with the right-side sound from the iPod. In other words the right-side audio (i.e. sound that plays through the right earphone) no longer functions very consistently when I listen to my iPod. I've switched out different pairs of headphones already to make sure that the headphones aren't the cause of any problems and I've discovered that regardless of which pair of headphones I use with my iPod -- whether they're a new pair of headphones or an old pair that still functions correctly -- the right-side audio still cuts in and out or doesn't even function at all when I listen to music. (Meanwhile the left-side audio -- i.e. sound that plays through the left earphone -- from the iPod still functions perfectly.) Hopefully a replacement headphone/audio jack will be able to fix the issue with the right-side audio. Thank you so much for you help! HPJ replacement Headphones cut in and out when adjusting the volume Tested the device on a dock and everything functioned properly. My ipod has experienced some trauma such as an exploded glow stick on the white spin wheel dropped a few times causing scratches and has had multiple connections taken in and out via headphone jack. As far as the issues towards headphone jack I first noticed that only one headphone was working or one speaker was working. I tried multiple types of headphones and it was indeed the ipod not the headphones or speakers. So for about one or two months one side produced sound then I started noticing that the headphones had to be pushed in hard just to go in and the jack was really tight. At this point no sound comes out now when you have headphones plugged in or ipod to speakers.

battery and HPJ customer is interested in BP and FP... please call to quote him these parts! if he does not answer leave a message and he will get back with us. Something has gotten into the headphone jack so I can no longer insert a headphone. The unit seems to work fine with my player which plugs into the charging connector. Unable to change settings change songs or turn off the device. Prior to complete failure I could push the hold button on / off to temporarily corrrect the issue. Now I've loss complete control. I allowed the battery to deplete itself in order to shutdown the unit. My iPod's screen is completely white with a gray spot and what looks like a crack in the upper left corner. The music plays fine though. The battery life is very short - maybe about 90 minutes. I made an attempt to open up the case but damaged about 10% of the screen (upper right). Please replace screen and battery. I acknowledge plates dinged up but want to keep originals. iPod works fine - Screen is broken and needs to be replaced. I sent an email a while back asking about a white screen of death problem I have with my iPod. Your response was to send in the iPod to be looked at by you guys and changing the screen usually takes care of this problem. Anyways thank you for your help and please email me back with any questions regarding this purchase. I'm not in my house that often and can best be reached by email. i am sending my ipod to get the lcd screen change everything else should be working but a check might be worth it. thanks very much let me know. Hello I am sending a Black Ipod classic 160 GB. The screen needs to be replaced and I would like a new battery. Please contact me if it appears I need a new back plate. The current back plate has been dented for over a year. If the dented back plate will not affect the machine then I don't want to replace it.
