5th Gen iPod Video Repair Customer Comments

The following are typical comments that we have received from customers who have required repairs on their 5th Generation Apple iPod Video. They may not make a whole lot of sense in this current context, but are listed here to give you an idea of the kinds of repairs that we offer for this model.

Unit appears to be completely dead and won't recharge. Had degraded so that it only ran for ~20-25 minutes before shutting down and require re-charge. No will not turn on. Believe new battery is required. Replace battery. IPOD screen is broken and needs to be replaced - please replace the LCD. Hi Would you please ship this battery asap to this address that I gave you I'm the buyer in France and my friend is coming next week and will bring it with her. By the way your website is excelent Thank you for the great job that you are doing. I am sending my 5th Gen. iPod to have the battery repaired. I noticed it was not holding a charge for more than 15 minutes a few months ago. while playing videos the battery life only lasts about 20 minutes playing music lasts only a little longer. battery replacement

battery doesnt work only one side of head phone jack functions. I think I did this correctly. I need a self-install battery kit for 30GB iPod video (5th Gen), Thank you. Just after a replacement battery for my 5th Gen 80GB iPod Video happy to install myself. Please include the tools and instructions. Thank you for a great website and store! I can charge my ipod for over 24 hrs and when I try to use it It shows low battery or shuts off immediately. My ipod screen shows a line throught the screen not sure what that means.

Will not take charge recognized by itunes boots to apple and says 'low battery' Battery works ok but is 4 years old (2006). I charge it weekly. Center button WORKS but is slightly recessed so takes some effort to depress. Let me know what you can do to fix. Center wheel works fine. Just need the battery kit for an ipod with video 30 gig. Keeps giving me the very low battery please wait. Will not charge. even after reset. Havent used it in over a year. My iPod has not suffered any trauma whatsoever. There is however the original plastic covering on the front of my iPod. Please do not remove it. Other than that I just want to replace the battery on my iPod since shuffling songs will kill my iPod in a few minutes. Thanks! won't turn on. when I connect to computer via apple cable I get a very low battery message and then it goes to the apple logo then www.apple.com/support/ipod. I'm assuming it's a battery problem. the device in the back is just scrathed but the problem i am having with my ipod is that the charge is not lasting the battery only lasting about 15 mintues. This is the 30G Video iPod device. I heard that the 60G batteries might be a little thicker so I want to be sure it is the thinner battery that will fit correctly in my case.

I need to have the battery replace. It doesn't last very long anymore. Also I noticed that that I can hear clicking sounds inside the ipod as it's working sometimes. It's not a big deal to me but I don't know if that is normal or something is broken or starting to go inside there. It happens if I reset it or start playing movies sometimes. Won't hold charge needs to be in my Bose. That's why I want new battery. Attempted to change battery. Had extreme difficulty removing cover. Screen and cover were damaged during process. New battery is now in device but unit is inoperative. Symptoms:Device transmits poor/scratchy sound in one ear only and when I jiggle the headphone plug around it can momentarily have sound in both ears. Other than that the device still works fine.

When I put my headphones in, the sound does not come out. It does appear to be playing the song, just without sound. If I squeeze the right hand side outside the wheel then some sound can be squeezed out. Sound is only audible from one earbud. Sound playing out of only one ear of new headphones - streaky black inky lines/spots on LCD display. Video plays with no issues. Headphone Jack does not work. Right channel no sound Very little battery life left even when fully charged Everything else works accordingly and is in good condition, No pass codes

Hold button seems to be broken. Unit will power up when plugged into PC or charging station but not by itself. sending in 5th Gen Apple Ipod to have headphone jack replaced as it has stopped working but have verified it is the jack through troubleshoot with Apple themselves

no shound is coming out of the headphone jack hold switch is not working. all else seems fine. IPOD Video Fifth Generation - The earphone jack is not working correctly I only get sound out of one earphone when I move the the connector for the earphones around it does play in both earphones. Based on this I believe it requires a new earphone jack. There is usually only one audible channel. One channel is usually missing and may be left or right. Both channels can be heard when applying a force of the perfect magnitude and direction to the earphone connector (and therefore to the jack). LCD is cracked and needs replacement. Headphone jack does not work and needs replacement. Front cover of ipod has small crack in it but I don't need it replaced. Its fine when covered. IPOD earphone jack plays only one channel. -The white ipod needs the new screen it is the 60 GB -The black ipod needs the head phone jack it is the 30 GB -Thanks. All this ipod needs is the headphone jack replaced. Everything else is fine. The left earphone never works. It is not ear plugs it is the ipod. While removing the old battery to replace with new milliamp battery the cable to the power switch ripped in two. That cable needs to be replaced and the new battery installed. Also when taking the case apart the clip at the top that held the two halves together broke off. I'm not sure if it can be replaced though. I packaged the new battery with the ipod. battery doesnt work only one side of head phone jack functions.

I have owned a 5th generation Ipod for about 2 years and have been having problems with the headphone earjack. The connection is very scratching and is lost. I need to jiggle the connection and constantly rotate to reestablish the connection. I have tried various earphones and the same issue results even though I can use with other electronic devices. In my reading it appears that this piece I've ordered may need to be replaced or the existing piece needs to be soldered. My preferences are to replace the part.

I was reassembling my i pod and unfortunately caught the audio control tape and partially severed the wire..hard drive seems to be fine. Battery is 5 years old and may need replacement. battery replacement is preventive only. Please return the old battery if possible. 1. iPod will not turn on. As it was failing it would try to turn on but gave a sad face error screen. Have already tried to reset. 2. Check headphone jack. Does not consistently play both channels. Seems to short out. When I plug the headphones in music only plays out of one earbud and I have tried with many different sets of headphones and even speakers. However if I push and hold the headphone connector thing diagonally in the headphone jack music will play out of both earbuds. I have taken my iPod to a few different stores that have analyzed it and tried to figure out what is wrong (they told me that there was definitely a problem with the headphone jack) but they weren't able to fix it. Thank you so much- This is saving me from having to buy a new iPod.

The current problems I am having with my iPod 5th Generation is that no sound is coming out from the right side of my car speaker or headphones so there's something definitely wrong with the headphone jack. I have also noticed that the battery life isn't lasting as long as it used to so that is why I would like to do the battery replacement as well as the headphone jack replacement. The first problem is the headphone jack - no audio comes out of the right side of headphones or speakers when it's plugged into my car's auxiliary jack. The 2nd problem is that the battery doesn't hold its charge as long as it used to and that's why I want to replace that as well as the headphone jack. No music coming through right ear bud when music is playing. Have tried multiple sets of ear buds. Music coming through left ear bud and when head phone jack is halfway into the input when music is playing but not when head phone jack is pushed all the way in. Ipod only plays sound out of the left headphone/speaker. Will play through right side with correct amount and direction of pressure. Cannot hear with earphones tried various ones. Also put it on the docking station and had a short while where I could hear the music through it then it got crackly and quit producing any sound. My other ipod works on it so I know it is not the docking station. I do not know of a passcode. Never used one. Hello I'm just looking to have my headphone jack replaced on this dinasaur 5th gen 80gb ipod so that i can enjoy in stereo again. Thanks for your help and I look to enjoy again soon. There is something wrong with the headphone jack that causes the right channel to drop. If you play with the plug you can get the right side to come in but it never stays. Hello! My name is Lushia Taylor and today I will be sending you my 5th Generation 30GB iPod. It has no water damage and very few scratches on the screen. I have purchased your package to have my earphone jack and battery replaced. The problems are pretty straight forward. My earphones do not operate properly and it is not the aux cables I use because they work fine with other devices I have. My battery will not stay charged for a significant amount of time and I've had this iPod for years. I need to have that replaced as well. Apple's replacement services are a complete rip off and I look forward to becoming a loyal customer of your company. Feel free to contact me at anytime if necessary. Take care of my baby and thanks in advance for your services.

The only noticable problem is the connection in the headphone jack...when it plays either through headphones or an rca cable I usually can only hear it out of one speaker or headphone. No other damage to report..just usual wear. My son pressed too hard on the display and damaged it so screen shows white and black. The music appears to be intact on it and plays fine through the computer. I broke my Ipod video screen. I just need to get a new one installed as far as I know everything is perfectly fine with it other than the screen of course.

My iPod Video LCD is cracked and needs replacement. Headphone jack does not work and needs replacement. Front cover of ipod has small crack in it but I don't need it replaced. Its fine when covered. Please repair the black at the top portion of the screen.

My screen has just been all fuzz for the past couple months and has gotten to the point where I can't see anything. There a few scratches on the screen...And when I push on the screen there are these two gash-like things that change color and size. The screen has been completely black and white so I can't see a thing and my iPod just goes straight to shuffle. The LCD screen has a bleeding pattern on it as if it has been stepped on or pressed against very hard and I can't read the songs or artists' names on the screen. It's almost like an upside-down hand patttern ( fingers ) in the way of reading the screen. The ipod works well except for not being able to read the LCD screen display. the toggle/swith at the top is broken it won't move back and forth. My LCD is broken as you can see. Will you please check out my battery when you are installing the LCD screen? the LCD was damaged during a battery replacement and I want to make sure everything is working before I get the iPod back. Thanks! Screen is damaged. Has several horizontal black lines through it. Everything else is working fine. The iPod was accidentely washed in the washer but the only thing wrong is that the screen on the inside cracked and then bleed on the inside. We can use the scroll wheel and select songs and listen to them but we can only see half the screen. My iPod has a broken LCD screen. Everything works when plugged into the computer so I just need a new LCD screen put on it. Thanks!

The ipod was dropped approx. 4ft landed on carpet but did break. There is a clear/white screen with a black line running through it. The screen needs to be fixed. Thank you! Since the screen is broken the device can not be utilized. We are assuming the screen is the only problem. We previously had Milliamp replace the headphone jack...hopefully that still works. Hello I believe that the primary issue is my IPOD LCD screen. My music plays with no issue. As you will see the IPOD the music is still in tact. If the issue is not with the LCD PLEASE PLEASE CONTACT ME. The battery will not stay charged and as soon as the iPod is turned on it turns off almost immediately. Also when trying to replace a battery that was purchased for it the LCD screen was damaged and can no longer be seen so I am replacing that as well. I believe the damage occured by pressing directly on the screen by accident.

The battery in the iPod when taken off the charger will almost immediately turn the iPod off when it said it was fully charged. Also when trying to replace it with a battery that was ordered previously the LCD screen was damaged and can no longer be seen. The damage to the screen is believed to be from pressing directly on the screen without knowing it. I put my IPOD down on and when I came back the screen had bleeding liquid from the inside. This IPOD still has the original battery and works but the screen is a mess. It has not been dropped or anything and the device itself works fine.

My Fifth gen iPod Video headphone jack recently broke after about six years of untroubled use. Apple informed me that this is a flaw in the model and shipped me an entirely new iPod free of charge. Within roughly two weeks the new iPod the screen cracked when I dropped it. Apparently it wasn't as hearty as the old one. My son's ipod classic has been unused for probably over 4 years and I found it and thought I would try to get it fixed. I am sure that during a birthday party and a group of hyper boys his backpack got stepped on and then we found the ipod screen cracked. It started out sortof viewable but then quickly died to only a lighted screen with no display. That pretty much sums up the damage. 1) Several days ago I when I turned on my iPod there were several black horizontal lines across the screen. The lines disappeared when the backlight was turned off. On the suggestion from someone I tried rubbing the screen with my thumb. The lines disappeared to some extent but were replaced by numerous ant tracks . Preliminary research indicates that the LCD needs to be replaced. 2) The battery- I ran a test suggest by Apple (Start fully charged select album of songs 3-4 min. long turn off EQ & Backlight set vol @ 50% turn Repeat ON play). I got about 12.5 hours of play time before power indicator went into the red. As that is a bit more than half of what the specs indicate and it is the original battery I want to change out the battery. Beyond those two items I've had no other problems with my unit.

Screen is cracked and does not display, needs replaced. Everything else seems to work fine but not sure so check. Also, I will wan a new faceplate and backplate both in BLACK. But, do eval first and then quote me everything. THANKS. iPod needs to have its scroll wheel realigned. In addition, no sound is being output from the dock out or the headphones; suspect a faulty logic board. May also need a new front fascia.
