The following are typical comments that we have received from customers who have required repairs on their 3rd Generation Apple iPod. They may not make a whole lot of sense in this current context, but are listed here to give you an idea of the kinds of repairs that we offer for this model.
The battery was recently replaced and still shows up as "extremely low battery" when plugged in. Does not start up past that screen even after being charged for a day... Could it be hard drive problems? Battery needs to be replaced ASAP. Tx, Replace the broken 3rd gen iPod headphone jack. Please test the battery. Please be careful not to scratch. Thank you for your help. Battery change should do it. Working fine when plugged in. Hello. ordered battery replacement kit fr ipod 3rd generation. you offered free shipping to be filled in the coupon field. doesnt work with the mask. may be you see my message and can take this into consideration. thank you. best regards. thanks, you all are more awesome than organic cheesecake! both batteries are dead, and do not hold a charge at all. Hi, My 3rd generation iPos does not seem to charge to its maximum capacity when plugged in. Even after an entire day of charging, the battery will only show the battery being half charged. Please advise if this is an issue with the battery or the ipod when the battery is being replaced. Kind Regards, PS: Please be careful with the new front and back housing regarding scratches when installing the new battery. works perfectly,-- just needs battery replacement! I replaced the battery. When I did, the screen would light up when plugged in but I could not access any music. It will not even light up now. iPod 3rd generation, M9244B, Originally stopped working and displayed battery and exclamation mark only. Buttons totally unresponsive and wouldn't charge. Replaced with new battery and now only apple symbol appears. However, on a good day, it decides to switch itself on and I can actually play some songs. Then they start jumping around and it's impossible to select anything. Most of the time it just hangs and makes clicking noises and is not recognized by computer. Also, when trying to reset, it just keeps switching itself back on and displaying apple symbol again. This has led me to the conclusion it may be the hard drive. I don't have all the songs backed-up and so am very keen to try and save it if possible. Thanks for your help!
Hello. The problem appears to be the hard drive. Originally I found the audio would freeze sometimes while playing, or a song different from the one I wished to play would play instead. I decided to do a Disk Utility check, and problems were found and repaired on the hard disk. I restored to factory condition in iTunes, and the device would then begin to sync, but out of more than 3000 songs, it would never get past a few hundred before iTunes would freeze. Repeated the Disk Utility step, repeated restore, started to sync again, and the same thing would happen: sync "froze" after a variable number of songs. Tried this process several times. Also obviously reset iPod using front panel MENU-PLAY. The device has sentimental value, so I would like to consider repair rather than buying a new one. Thanks!
Please notify me when order ships. Thanks! 40GB 3rd Gen iPod (just in case you need to know) :o) Battery will not hold a charge. The battery charges but won't hold charge. needs new battery The only thing wrong with this is it won't charge/hold a charge. It works fine if plugged into an electrical outlet.
Please specify which battery is which in the shipping so I won't get the wrong one in the wrong iPod. Thanks!! 1100 mAh Battery Replacement Kit for 3rd Generation iPod, please install battery. Thank you. Battery life is very short; replace battery. Hi- I have understood the ipod only needs a battery replacement. It works fine on the car ipod connector but it drains while off it. The Apple store mentioned that because it was connected for a year to the car connector without removal the battery got damaged. Thanks! If nobody in during delivery please leave in greenhouse. Nothing wrong with the 3rd generation IPOD other than it is several years old and the battery finally died. The green IPOD touch was exposed to water while using it jogging and it started raining. It was never underwater just wet from rainfall. It happened about a week ago--the last week of June 2010. If you would please include one of your Free Tips sheets with my order. Thank you. THE iPOD DOES NOT TAKE A CHARGE OR POWER UP IF IT DOES NOT NEED A PASSCODE RESET THEN DO NOT DO THIS SERVICE. The white ipod battery just died. It was working fine otherwise. Do you also have the back cover for this IPOD. We're fowarding two ipods for battery replacement. That's it! Found you by listening to TBTL. Thanks for your support of imaginary radio. Please make sure to include the highest powered battery i.e. the 1100 mAh battery.
The corner of the third gen iPod LCD screen was chewed by our dog it quickly leaked throughout the screen needs to be fully replaced. Everything else works fine. intermittently won't turn on or power offf. on the 3rd gen ipod doesnt hold a charge maybe a battery/charging port issue takes a charge when plugged into the wall but not to the dock. IPOD will not turn on or reboot. It will begin to start up until the Apple logo appears then stops and turns back off. It is an old 20 GB IPOD I haven't had any other problems prior to this.
MAIN PROBLEM: iPOD with blank screen - no Apple no menus - just blank..... OK - I wanted to replace the battery and LCD. I purchased parts from iFIXIT. 1 Replaced both parts - reassembled - all worked fine EXCEPT LCD backlight did not come on but text/menus were perfect. Assumed defective LCD with bad backlight. 2 Opened iPOD again to check connections and put back OLD LCD to see if backlight worked with that one. 3 Reassembled - Yes backlight of old screen still worked BUT screen was blank. Only thing that worked was backlight. No text - no menus. 4 Opened iPOD again to put NEW (backlight defective) LCD to see if it would show menus. NO - that screen also blank. 5 Opened iPOD again to put old LCD back in. 6 iPOD mounts normally when attached to computer - HD runs nicely. 7 I used iTUNES to restore SW. No luck - still blank screen. 8 Repeatedly tried to reset with SELECT/MENU keys. No luck there either. END result - iPOD with new battery HD that sounds OK but blank screen. The screen currently in the iPOD is the original since I am returning the defective one. The original LCD was a bit faint but I now wish I had put up with it and just replaced the battery! Thanks for your help.
battery will not hold charge and device will not turn on if device is not repairable interested in data transfer. The customer does not have a charger or syncing cables. The iPod has not been used in a long time. He thinks it maybe the battery but he is unsure. Battery gets drained easily...freezes up and hardrive makes a skipping noise then freezes up.....then i just leave it until it turns off and when I turn it on again the display shows a message to connect it to computer to restore the third generation IPOD.... Customer has replaced the battery before but his main goal is to actually SAVE THE MUSIC. He thinks its charging port may have been damaged by a different guy he brought it to. In a perfect world he'd like to get the iPod operational ALL of the iPod's music backed up on a hard copy the iPod reformatted for Windows and then the data put back on the iPod if it's fixable. I PURCHASED THIS IPOD FROM EBAY. I WAS ABLE TO TURN IT ON/OFF FOR A FEW DAYS BUT I WENT DEAD AFTER A FEW DAYS. I PURCHASED THE BATTERY KIT FROM YOU. I TRIED TO INSTALL IT MYSELF BUT STILL IT WONT POWER ON. I MUST HAVE INSTALLED THE BATT THE WRONG WAY OR THERE ARE MORE ISSUES. THANKS. This is a used ipod that we got from our family. I assumed that the battery was dead from sitting around in a drawer so I purchased a charger and plugged it in for a day or so. When I attempted to turn it on I was unable to get any response. I researched on line to see if there were any suggestions and tried a few of them with no luck. Please feel free to call with any questions. I installed your 1100 amp battery in my 3rd Gen iPod (40GB) myself in August 2010 and the device has been working well. I just dropped it and the music was still playing when I picked it up. After the album ended none of the buttons worked except the Hold. I charged it which was successful and I docked it with my laptop and all the music is there and there was full recognition of the device and I could even play songs from the iPod on my computer. So I'm hoping the operation of the faceplate buttons can be repaired. Other details recently with the iPod is that I had to reset by holding the menu & play buttons because it froze but that worked perfectly. Thanks !
I ordered the battery changed it myself but it isn't holding much of a charge. So I'm guessing that I did something wrong. I haven't noticed anything else wrong with the ipod so all that needs to be done is to make sure I put your battery in correct. If I did put it in correct then let me know what is wrong with it. Thank you. I replaced the battery with one of yours. Unfortunately all that shows up is a disk icon and nothing else works. I can't even shut it down. The battery was drained on the first charge. This iPod gen 3 was unrepairable. I am sending it back along with another gen 3 iPod I picked up on e-bay. Hopefully you can can swap the hard drives to resurrect it. Thank you for the prompt service
